Calcitonin (Salmon)

A hormone secreted by thyroid C cells that regulates calcium and phosphate metabolism. It inhibits osteoclast activity and lowers blood calcium levels. Salmon calcitonin has higher activity than human calcitonin. Used for osteoporosis, Paget's disease, and hypercalcemia. Research-grade material is used in studies of bone metabolism, osteoclasts, calcium regulation, and osteoporosis.
